-Tell us a little bit about yourself as an introduction to your art as a musician, and tell us how you started a music career.

I think that my first close-up with music was through my family. My dad sang, and my uncle played the guitar. They were not musicians, but as you know there’s always someone in the family or a friend with a guitar. That experience left a mark on me, but I think that you are born with this. For example, my sister, who was raised in the same context, didn’t have that experience with music. However, I had that music motivation for myself and that was enough.
-Do you think that Guardarraya is your best project? And is Guardarraya what you wanted for your life?
With Guardarraya, we already have been playing for over 21 years. We have been making music with Mateo Crespo and Andrés Caicedo, the ones on the band. We didn’t want to make a band, we didn’t have a name or expectations for it. But that was my beginning with the band.
-How do you see yourself and your music in ten years?
I believe in 10 years. I see myself making and producing music. I want to give my country a musical and cultural legacy. I want to offer music, but in different styles.
-Do you have a favorite style of music?
I don’t have a favorite type of music. I like music in different styles and types. I think that there are some things that I don’t like about different styles and I think that that’s why I don’t have a style of my own.
-Do you have an artist that is an inspiration for you?
I wouldn't say an artist, but the music itself is my best inspiration. I don’t have a favorite artist, but I think there isn’t a specific artist who marked me through time, there are a lot: Julio Jaramillo, Piero, Fabio. More than artists I could talk about types of music that when I first listened to them they surprised me, like flamenco, a guitarist like Paco Lucia, musicians like Gardel, Sosa, regarding Rock Music we can talk about Spinetta.
-Do you like doing collaborations with Ecuadorian artists? Will you continue doing it?
I certainly enjoy doing collaborations with another Ecuadorian artist, it is something that I imagine that I could do again.
Which is your favorite song of your band Guardarraya?

I don’t have a favorite one. I truly like music, and in the Guardarraya repertory, I don’t know which one of the songs is the most important. If we talk about numbers, Lero Lero, or 1537 but that’s not my point of seeing this, those numbers of views were only luck and an accident.
